Mattias Klum

Mattias Klum (born 1968 in Uppsala) is a Swedish freelance photographer and film producer in natural history and culture subjects. Klum has had several wildlife documentaries shown on Swedish national TV. Among other publications, he has photographed for National Geographic, including two cover stories (in 1997 and 2001). He has published seven books, two of them available in English.
Born in 1968, Swedish photographer Mattias Klum started shooting for a living while still in his teens. Since 1986 he has been a freelance photographer and film producer specializing in natural history—his boyhood passion.
A veteran of assignments in Brazil, Brunei, Costa Rica, Guyana, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Thailand, Klum has had his work featured in Wildlife Conservation, Audubon, Geo, National Geographic, and other magazines. His National Geographic magazine work includes two cover stories: “Malaysia’s Secret Realm” (August 1997) and “Asia’s Last Lions” (June 2001).
Of Klum’s seven books, two are available in English: Borneo Rain Forest and Exploring the Rain Forest. His work has been exhibited at at the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; the National History Museum in Stockholm, Sweden; and the Pentax Forum Gallery, in Tokyo, Japan.
Based in his hometown of Uppsala, Sweden, Klum collaborates on fieldwork, books, and film projects with his wife, Monika, herself a writer and photographer.
