Matthew James Nicholson (born October 2, 1974, St Leonards, New South Wales) is an Australian cricketer who played in one Test in 1998. He was educated at Knox Grammar School.

His career has been ravaged by injuries as well as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, following a dose of Glandular Fever but a strict diet has enabled him to manage the problem., and he is now a vital cog in New South Wales' star-studded bowling line-up. At grade cricket level, he captains the Gordon club.

He earned a surprise call up to play his one and only Test against England in Melbourne.
