Matthew Lockwood (born October 17, 1976 in Rochford, England) is a professional footballer currently playing for Leyton Orient F.C.

Matt began his career at Queens Park Rangers as a trainee in 1995 but made his first professional impact at Bristol Rovers F.C. where he made 58 appearances until the end of the 1997-1998 season. Having completed his contract, Lockwood moved on a free transfer to Leyton Orient F.C. where he has been an integral part of the first team ever since. Lockwood's position is as left back, he is also known for being Leyton Orient's primary dead ball specialist. During the 2001-2002 season, Lockwood suffered a significant spleen injury.

Lockwood has been linked with a move to a higher level of football on a number of occasions and was named as the 47th best player outside of the FA Premier League in a study by FourFourTwo magazine. The study named Lockwood as the best player at left back and the 4th best player in the Football League Two.
