Matt Utai

Matthew Utai (born May 25, 1981 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby league player for the Canterbury Bulldogs in the National Rugby League competition. He has also represented the New Zealand national team on three separate occasions between 2002 and 2004. His position of choice is at Wing.

Possessing an unusually high weight-to-height ratio for a winger, Utai is less prone to collapsing during tackles than most other backs in the NRL. However, his relatively small stature often makes him the target of high attacking kicks.

One of his cousins are deaf and lives in Melbourne, goes to Victorian College for the Deaf. He also play rugby at his local club.
