Matt Newton-Walters is a British professional wrestler best known for his work in World Association of Wrestling (WAW) under his ring name of "The Dark Angel" Ashe.

[edit] Career

After training in the WAW academy for just one week, Matt Newton-Walters made his professional wrestling debut for the promotion at the age of 17 teaming up with fellow trainee Rob Adams to face Bash and Crash. The pair tag teammed under the name The British Connection but soon changed their name and gimmick in early 2002 to become Ashe and Draven (Adams) The Dark Angels made their first appearance as a gothic themed, high flying tag team taking on the UK Pitbulls in a losing effort in Watton, Norfolk. The Dark Angels would continue to feud with the UK Pitbulls over the next two years; facing off against the team on several occasions throughout wrestling halls in the country.

In 2003, the Dark Angelsr parted ways with Draven unoffically bowing out of wrestling to concentrate on his course at university in Middlesborough. However, Ashe continued to wrestle as a singles competitor under the Dark Angel name. Ashe would go on to pick up notable wins over top British stars "Rowdy" Ricky Knight, and Justin Starr, and compete with other companies around Britain such as EWF, Premier Promotions, DAM and Lincolnshire Promotions.

Ashe would go on to capture his first title in late 2003, ironically taking the WAW tag belts away from the UK Pitbulls as part of a make shift tag team with Paul Tyrell. However, this title run was short-lived as a developing feud between the two men forced the belts to be forfitted.

In May 2004, Ashe would win the WAW British Heavyweight Championship beating The Zebra Kid for the title. Ashe held the title for over a year until on May 29th, 2005 when FWA British Heavyweight Champion, Alex Shane won the WAW British Championship from Ashe in a cross promotional show called "May Mayhem 3", between WAW and the Frontier Wrestling Alliance in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Since losing the title Ashe, became a main stay heel of the World Association of Wrestling roster; blaming WAW commisioner and the management team for his title loss, as well as wrestling for various companies in the United Kingdom and Europe.

The heel turn in WAW resulted in a loseing streak which came to a head on March 10, 2006 at "March Madness" when, in an Interfederation cup match against rival promotion Summit Wrestling, Ashe turned on WAW boss Ricky Knight enableing the Team from Summit to gain the victory. The following night, with a little help from his new friends in "Team Summit" (Nick Aldis, Jimmy Starr and Marty Scurll), Ashe returned to winning ways defeating Sam Slam. Ashe is still involved with two feuding companies.
