Matthew Murray (born May 2, 1981 in Solihull) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper.

Murray first came into the Wolves team in August 2002 against Crystal Palace, deputising for the injured Michael Oakes, and kept his place right through that season, including a man-of-the-match performance in the Play-off final in May 2003. In this game, he produced a number of wonderful saves, the pick being a second-half penalty save from Michael Brown.

He followed this up by debuting for England Under 21s, before injury hampered his second season at the club. In the three years that followed the 2002-03 season he only played seven games for Wolves.

On March 21, 2006 he went on loan to Tranmere Rovers, but on April 28, was called back to Wolves because of possible injuries to other goalkeepers Stefan Postma and Michael Oakes. He started his first game for Wolves in almost sixteen months on the final day of the season at Norwich City, pulling off a series of impressive saves, and has managed to retain his place at the beginning of the 2006-2007 season where he has been largely acredited with Wolves impressive start to the season, due to a catalogue of good performances allowing for 5 of Wolves first 7 games to end 1-0.

Due to Murrays good form during the season he was rewarded with a new 3 and a half year contract on the 8th December 2006, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2009/2010 season. It is also well documented that Matt Murray is under heavy obsorvation from the England goalkeeping coaches for the full international team.
