Matthew John Kata (born on March 14, 1978 in Fairview Park, Ohio) is a professional baseball player, currently a member of the Texas Rangers baseball team. He stands 6'1" and weighs 195 lbs. He is a switch hitter and throws right-handed.
Kata went to college at Vanderbilt after attending Cleveland, Ohio's St. Ignatius High School. He made his Major League debut on June 15, 2003 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has also played briefly in the major leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies.
