Matt Dunne

Matt Dunne is a two-term Democratic Vermont State Senator representing the Windsor senate district, who is currently running for Lieutenant Governor of Vermont. He formerly was the Director of AmeriCorps VISTA, appointed first by President Bill Clinton and then re-appointed by President George W. Bush.

He served eight years in the Vermont House of Representatives immediately out of college, and was chosen by the Democratic caucus in 1998 to be Assistant Majority Leader, at the time the youngest whip in the country. Following two-and-a-half years overseeing AmeriCorps VISTA, Matt was elected to the Vermont State Senate. He sits on the Appropriations, Economic Development, and Administrative Rules Committees. He is also an Assistant Director of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy at Dartmouth College. In 2006, Dunne ran for Lieutenant Governor of Vermont, but lost to Republican incumbent Brian Dubie.

An alumnus of Brown University and Hanover High School, Dunne has also been involved with theatre, directing community dramatic productions in both Vermont and New Hampshire.
