Matiu Ratana

Matiu Ratana, son of Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana, is a former New Zealand politician and President of the Ratana Church. A younger brother to Haami Tokouru Ratana he succeeded to both the Western Maori seat and Church Presidency after his brother's death in 1944.

Matiu Ratana was killed in an automobile accident on October 7th, 1949 and was succeeded by his wife Iriake Ratana as MP.
