[edit] Description

The Chesterfield County Mathematics and Science High School at Clover Hill opened in September, 1994, with an enrollment of twenty-five sophomores and seventy-five freshman; approximately 100 freshman have been selected and enrolled each year since then. The magnet school, which shares facilities with Clover Hill High School, is open to any qualifying Chesterfield County student. The school, a member of the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (NCSSTMST), offers a specialized interdisciplinary curriculum that focuses on accelerated and advanced mathematics and science studies while providing a strong foundation in the humanities.

[edit] Courses

Students have easy access to AP courses (such as economics, AB and BC calculus, US History, US Government, Physics, and Chemistry), John Tyler Dual Enrollment courses (such as Differential Equations, Advanced Mathematical Modeling, Linear Algebra, and Engineering), and some VCU courses (such as VCU Life Sciences 101). Many of these courses are offered to the regular Clover Hill students, but because of different freshman and sophomore year schedules, they are much less likely to be able to fit them into their schedules or meet the prerequisites.

[edit] Administration

The Math and Science school's coordinator is Mr. Sloan Burns (2000-present). Prior to his hiring, Paul Leonard was the original coordinator (1994-2000) before leaving to further his career in education. The school's address is currently 13900 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA 23112.
