Match Day II was a football simulation game made for the Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, MSX and Commodore 64 platforms. It was created in 1987 by Jon Ritman and Bernie Drummond. Due to the constraints of the systems, the game has very simple graphics, and it is considerably slow. The controls consist of 4 directions and a shot button. Each team has 5 players each, and there are league and cup options available. The results are highly addictive due to the difficulty level, the complete control over ball direction, power and elevation, and the importance of tactics and player positioning over the field, which makes it challenging to break strong defences. Many fans around the world continue to play Match Day II, due to the many emulators available for PC platforms.
