[edit] Western end
Doesn't the state maintenance begin right under the bridge, i.e. at the crossing point between 6 and 6A. While the access between the two roads is somewhat circuitous, 6A begins when Sandwich Road crosses 6 and not at some random point. Polaron 03:28, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've seen the Mile marker and End signage in question back when I lived on the Cape...the state maintains ALL of Sandwich Road all the way to the Bourne Bridge south rotary, but we already know it's not *all* 6A. The state just simply never stopped maintaining it from back in the days when it was "US 6 Bypass". -EmiOfBrie 03:33, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Source for what?
I noticed a comment asking if there was a source for "this" regarding the silent multiplex History tidbit. Is "this" in reference to the multiplex, the mile markers, both? If it's in reference to the mile markers, I used to live right on Route 6A on mile 55.6 (at the family-owned Days' Cottages resort, if you want a place point of reference). When I was a kid, vandals uprooted the 55.6 marker and buried it up to its neck elsewhere on my parents' property, and I unbolted the marker's reflectors and kept them for a number of years. MassHighway never replaced it, since the road had just been turned over to town maintenance. Marker 55.7 was (probably still is) on my parents' property as well, and after years of leaning at a weird angle due to a car hitting it, I straightened it out about 10 years ago when I was doing Cottages grounds maintanance. - EmiOfBrie 21:18, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
