Master Blaster (Jammin)

"Master Blaster (Jammin)" is a 1980 single by American and Motown singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder of his 1980 album Hotter than July.

The song, built on a heavy reggae feel, was an ode to reggae legend Bob Marley for Wonder had been performing with Marley a few times in concerts (and actually billed him as an opening act) on his US tour in the fall of the year.

The song was the leading single off Wonder's Hotter than July album and reached #5 on the Billboard pop singles chart. The song is also significant for the difficult vocal maneuvers Wonder showcased especially on the line, oh I bet you if someone approached you yesterday/to tell you if you would be jammin'/you would not believe it/because you never thought that you'd be jammin.

The song itself is the subject of an homage by the North African raï singer Cheb Mami entitled "Enfants d'Afrique" Italic text
