Maso da Sanfriano

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maso da San Friano also known as Tommaso Manzuoli, was an Italian mannerist artist active mainly in 16th century Florence. He painted an number of altarpieces for San Pier Maggiore, Santa Felicita, and the Ognissanti. He was pupil of Pier Francesoco Foschi and Carlo Portelli. Portelli had been a pupil of Jacopo Pontormo, and Pontormo's emotionalism is evident in his canvases. He was one of the artists working under Giorgio Vasari in the Studiolo of Francesco I. (1567-1577).
