[edit] Personality and traits
17 years-old Japanese, the last of the main summons to the netherworld of La Gias by the emperor of Langran (not counting EX, e.g. Mio). Typical hot-blooded hero character, great at all sports and not so great in thinking (at first). He has no sense of directions too (it's not uncommon for him to fly the Cybuster many times around the planet before he can find Japan). He's also somewhat awkward around women (which is ironic, since he has acquired an unofficial 'harem' in his stay in Langran). Because of his extreme emotional ups and downs, he was chosen as the pilot for Cybuster which needs high amounts of prana.
When he first arrived in Langran, he was given the Wind Masouki Jaohm to pilot (or the Water Masouki Zain if you chose don´t go around in the game, and later promoted to Jaohm), and later he is chosen by Cyfis to be the pilot of the Cybuster. He was the last of the four Masou Kishin pilots to be chosen, albeit by Cybuster which is arguably the best of the Masou Kishin.
Both his parents died when he was young, leading to a loneliness complex which was dispelled by the people he met in La Gias. Forever indebted to his mentor Zeoroot who was like a dad to him, he now treats his only daughter Presia as his own sister. He has feelings for Wendy Rasm Iknart (the designer of the Langran Masouki Project); things are more complicated now that Ryuune Zoldark has thrown her hat into the ring. Becky (another Masouki pilot) always reminds him that polygamy is common in La Gias, which pisses Masaki off and gets him all embarrassed.
Since the guardian spirit of Masou Kishin only accept person with good heart, Masaki was granted freedom in Langran. He can openly disobey the ruler of Langran without penalty. In fact, it's his duty to oppose any ruler of Langran who threatens peace of La Gias.
The name bestowed onto him, Randoll Zan Zenozakis, is actually an ancestor of Zeoroot, hence in (Langran) theory making him Zeoroot’s son. Randoll was the hero who sealed off Shiva Volkruss several years ago.
He carries 2 familiar spirits, 2 cats called Kuro and Shiro (Black and White), one male and one female. They always make fun of Masaki whenever he’s lost (which’s quite often).
Masaki's hate of Shuu stems from the fact that Shuu killed Zeoroot, before fleeing to the surface (an event that occurs before Super Robot Wars 2 in the classic storyline and most likely also happened in Alpha and OG timelines).
[edit] Storyline
In Super Robot Wars Gaiden: Masou Kishin, The Lord of Elemental, Masaki is the main character. The game have two parts: the firts part tells how Masaki is summoned to La Gias, and meets with Tootie Norback, another Masou Kishin pilot, who tells him the reason that him was summoned to La Gias, but they are interrupted by the attack of some terrorists. Masaki finishes amid the battle piloting the Jaohm (or the Zain). When seeing the talents of Masaki, Feillord Gran Bilseia (the son of the Emperor of Langran) asks to Masaki that if he wants to stay in La Gias, giving him three days to decide. While, Masaki stays in the house of Zeoorot who will be his mentor, teacher and later, his stepfather. After the three days and when seeing the chaos that the worshipers of Volkruss cause, Masaki decides to stay in La Gias. Masaki goes finding out about the things that happen in Langran and goes knowing new friends. When Saphine (one of the followers of Shu) tries to kidnap the Princess Mónica (one of the two princess of Langran), Masaki and other pilots arrive to stop it, but Saphine stolen the Cybuster instead. Masaki is chosen as one of the members of the search team, and it is helped by Senia, Mónica's twin sister, to avoid that he gets lost. During the search, Masaki and Senia face with Saphine, and Masaki it is chosen by the Cybuster to be their pilot, forcing Saphine to runaway when Yang Long, the pilot of the Elemental Lord of the Fire, Granveil, appears. When Masaki obtains its Familiars, Kuro and Shiro, decides go to inspect the surface meeting for the first time with Shu, when this this making one of the tests to the Granzon. Shu recognizes the Cybuster and suggests to Masaki that return to La Gias. After the destruction of the Kingdom of Langran and the betrayal of Shu, Masaki decides to follow Shu to the surface, because him considers Shu very dangerous.
The second part tells the events after the final of the Guest war. Masaki and Ryune return to Langran, to protect it for the other countries invansion forces. In the final battle againts Volkruss, Masaki and Shu join forces to defeated him.
Masaki also makes a guest apareance in Hero Senki: Project Olympus, to help the Alpha Force.
In Original Generation, he appears for the first time in the Antarctica, and helps the ATX Team to defeat an Aerogater unit. In the Antarctica Base, Masaki appears in front of Shuu, who fought against the SRX team. Shuu flees and Masaki follows him. Later, Masaki joins to the Hagane and its crew, and helps out in the DC War. He later disappears after the death of Bian Zoldark during the final battle with the DC. When the Hiryuu Kai appears at the White Star and are attacked by Aerogater forces, Shuu arrives to help the Hiryuu Kai and Masaki appears after him. Shuu suggests to him that he should stay with the Hiryuu Kai before he disappears again. Masaki also participates in Operation SRW. After the war against the Aerogaters, Masaki went to the Tesla Leicht labs in order to find some clues on Shu Shirakawa's whereabouts.
In the classic timeline, he helps the Londo Bell in the DC War. Masaki eventually kills Shuu after the Granzon transforms into Neo Granzon in Super Robot Taisen 3. Masaki returns to La Gias and finds that Langran kingdom was at war with Shutedonias. Feillord, now new ruler of Langran, summons more warriors from the surface world to aid him in the war. While Masaki help Feillord at first, Feillord later becomes fascinated by the power of the Cho-Masouki (Super Elemental Machine), Dulaxyl. Masaki defeats Feillord and the Dulaxyl when he try to unite La Gias by force. During the war, Masaki also discover that Shuu has been resurrected by the workshippers of Shiva Volkruss. In Super Robot Taisen 4 and Super Robot Taisen F, Masaki return to surface world once again to aid Londo Bell in their battle against Guest aliens.
In the Alpha timeline, Masaki helps the Londo Bell in the Balmar War. In Alpha Gaiden, Masaki appears again on the surface, piloting the Masouki Jaohm, because the Cybuster had been damaged and was being repaired. Ryune and Yang Long appears soon after and join Masaki to help the Preventers (former Londo Bell) against the Titans. Later, Senia, Wendy and the other Masou Kishin pilots appears on the surface, giving the fully-repaired Cybuster to Masaki. In the assault to retrieve the Macross, the Preventers engaged Shuu in his Neo Granzon and even managed to badly damage it, the result of which was a rip in time and space that threw the Preventers centuries into the future... one in which the Preventers failed to activate Project Aegis, bringing about an apocalyptic world. In this future, the Preventers, also known as the Irregulars, join forces with many warriors in the future to fight against the Ancestors. When the Preventer return to their original timeline, Shuu was there for one more challenge, intending (as in SRW3) to destroy Earth and provide the souls required for Volkruss' resurrection. In a hard-fought battle, the Preventers overcame the Neo Granzon a second time. Shuu died without regrets -- he realized that it was simply his time to be destroyed as part of the universal cycle of life. After this, Masaki and the others Masou Kishin pilots return to La Gias.
