[edit] Should photographs of rape victims be published on Wikipedia?

Masha is the victim of a horrible crime. It is true that she testified before the US Congress and appeared on national TV in order to lobby tougher sentences for people who download and own child pornography. However, I don't think her image should be used on Wikipedia. Personally, I don't think photographs of victims of rape should appear at all on Wikipedia and in this case the girl is only 13 years old! She is not a politician or singer or even a celebrity by choice. She is the victim of a crime and still underage.

I would really like to know what Wikipedia's policiy is with regard towards publishing photographs of victims of crime and rape in particular. I also would like to know where we should draw the line in publishing photographs of crime victims in general. Dee286 -- 83.84.9.87 08:15, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Since, as you said, she's appeared on national TV to talk about this issue, her appearance is public knowledge. I don't see what purpose it would serve to remove the image. Ace of Sevens 15:10, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
