[edit] Tchort

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Tchort may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. FreplySpang 15:45, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry that it came across as a "cryptic smack in the face." (good phrase!) "A7" refers to one of Wikipedia's Criteria for speedy deletion#A7. It says that articles on certain kinds of subjects that do not assert the notability of their subjects may be deleted immediately. Because your article didn't explain why Peter Zinovieff or the contemporary musician were notable, I judged it to fall into that category.
I see now that you had a question you wanted answered, didn't find the answer here, and so added it. Thanks! That's a very helpful attitude! However, I still don't think that the particular page you started had much potential for growing into an encyclopedic article beyond the short bits of information you included. We do try to avoid becoming an "indiscriminate collection of information" , and I think that this page was close to that.
If you would like to get the opinions of other editors on whether or not the article should have been deleted, you can open a discussion of it at Wikipedia:Deletion review.
