[edit] License tagging for Image:Oracion Seis.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Oracion Seis.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Bitag taxi driver.JPG

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bitag taxi driver.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ResurgamII 00:54, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

- Please don't remove the template again (for both images) without proper fair use rationale. Do that again and I will report you to the Administrator's incidents board. ResurgamII 22:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images

Since I know you are going to ask me about my edits to Bitag related pages, let me explain.

  1. I removed images from List of Bitag episodes because they were deleted because they did not have fair use rationales. See, images used under fair use doctrine, according to Wikipedia policies, need to have several things and meet several criteria. One of them is having a detailed fair use rationale. No rationale - deletion in seven days (well, in this particular case it took 2 weeks). See WP:FU and rationale examples for more info.
  2. I removed links to YouTube. First, you cannot use YouTube logo for this purpose. That's again fair use, just different aspect. You can use YouTube logo only in YouTube article to help identify the company. Second, the shows hosted on YouTube are copyright violations. As such, Wikipedia should not promote them. The same thing would be in pornography article to have a link to an actual XXX-rated website.

I hope you see my points. Good job on Bitag, but please learn more about the images and copyrights. Cheers, Renata 02:00, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
