Hello Kenwilliams please have a look on your german page!

Kenwilliams, thank you for your comments on the Talk:Aulus_Aemilius_Pudens discussion page. I originally split the Puden's article into two, recognizing that there were two Pudens (father and son). I have been engaged in a debate with Wetman and others who do not accept the association of the Biblical Pudens with the husband of Claudia (the Briton), owner of the Santa Pudenziana.

Though the Pudens family is not my strong suit, I have tried to sort out the relationships, and early references to them. I have continually been brought back to your German article, and though I don't speak German have a basic gyst as to what it says. I concede that the German article is perhaps more authoritative than my efforts to develop an English equivalent. I have found that that article pretty much conveys why scholars beleive that Martial's Pudens was the son who served in Britain. Therefore could you assist me with the following articles en:Rufus Pudens Pudentianna, en:Aulus Aemilius Pudens and en:Claudia Rufina. My understanding is that Aulus Aemilius was the father, Rufus the son, and Claudia the wife of the son. WikiRat 11:05, 4 November 2005 (EST)

I wrote my Comment there some minutes ago. There are DEFINETLY two different Persons. I spend hours, days to find Informations (but it's OK, Ive learnd to do that ;)). Aquila Pudens was the Father an more important one. Maybe - MAYBE!!!!! - he was the Pudens of Martial. But they found an Epigraph about him - and there were written: "[...]lus Pudens" - it's an other Name. So he's known as "Aulus Pudens" (but actually the Scientists believe, that this was not correct completet. Then there are the Officer. He served under emperor Claudius in Britain. And he should have been one of teh first Christians there (like the others of his family he should be converted). And than there are the Legend about the Princess... - at the End there are definetly 3 rememberable Persons, all with the Name Pudens. Maybe more, because in my eyes also the two later Senators und the Proconsul are in a way important. Kenwilliams 17:05, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wolfgang Tiefensee

Hi Kenwilliams!

[edit] Category:Entertainers who died in their 80s

I nominated this category for deletion. However, the good citizens of Wikipedia chose to keep it. Regards Arniep 13:11, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I've realized that. I was too late... Kenwilliams 18:23, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ancient prostitution

On the Talk page for prostitution, you posted:

That a fault. Herodotus is for such things not trustworthy. I would write it new by myself, but my english is much to bad. Actually it's definetly not OK. It's pure Horror for every serious historian.

First - I suggest, then, requesting a translation of de:Prostitution in der Antike (I suggest creating the page for the translated article under the name "Ancient prostitution" or "Prostitution in ancient times"), and then linking to it from the prostitution page.

Second - I hope you don't mind if I correct your English here a little? (I'm learning Spanish right now, and I find it more helpful than insulting when people correct me, and "helpful" is the way I mean it):

  • That a fault. That should be That's or That is. "Fault" is also, while maybe not 100% incorrect in actual usage, here, a bit awkward. Usually one would say That's a mistake.
  • I would write it new by myself, normally a person would just say I would rewrite it myself, .
  • English should be capitilized, as it's a proper noun being used to refer to a language.
  • It's actually supposed to be too bad, not to bad. This is a very common mistake even among native speakers. :) It may be helpful to remember it as having more "o"s than it needs, just as if there are too many of something, that means there are more than are needed or more than are desired of that thing. ;)
  • It's spelled definitely. This is a word that is also frequently misspelled even by native speakers, probably because the spelling seems a little odd, visually. :) It's just definite with ly attached, though.

I hope this was helpful! :) Runa27 06:29, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your comment on my candidacy

I replied in my talk page with this, I again apologize, my german is worse than your english! aAnd I am a native Spanish speaker...:

Ich stimme zu... einer meiner punkte ist genau die anhaltende unterstutzung und die expansion das nicht-englischen wikis... Ich schlug ein "Wikibabel" für das Füllen des Abstandes zwischen Sprachen und Kulturen vor. Damit kannst du sehen, dass ich zustimme. Ich entschuldige mich, da mein deutschsprache schlechter als deine englischesprache ist. :D--Cerejota 02:42, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sex Tourism

Marcus, good work on the prostitution page. You have a lot of good information to contribute. Would you please take a look at the Sex Tourism page. We are at the end of a dispute and there is still a flag on the links. Would you remove the flag if you find the links acceptable.
