[edit] Great Headlines:

[edit] Mars Attacks! Christ Returns!

Hidden agenda: If the world of humanity was to come under attack from outside the planet by an alien life form, it would probably unite quickly, as the whole planet would be under threat. Unfortunately (or fortunately), we have to go about achieving the unification of the human race the long way, as each individual comes to some kind of understanding about the nature of the world and its inhabitants, and his relationship and responsibilities to the whole.

Wikipedia and Wiktionary, two of the coolest things since the discovery of absolute zero, are evidence that the world is becoming a global village, and that the concept "The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens*" is spreading. It is exciting to contemplate what Wikipedia might become.

It would be great to have an instant language translator, where a phrase entered in one language could instantly be translated into the language of your choice. Even better would be what a 'Dune (film)' fan might call 'the Spicer Guild member's mike' where the spoken word is automatically translated into the language of the hearer. This of course would be unnecessary should a world auxiliary language, which everybody would have to learn in order to be able to communicate with everybody else, be introduced.

While waiting for these things to happen, this user will contribute to the process by entering a few words in Gilbertese to Wiktionary and a plant list for Kiribati, hopefully to be enhanced by pictures, one day.
