Talk:Marton Csokas

Something very odd is going on on the website which is listed as the "unofficial fan site" - I think this link should be removed as it's clearly not a fan site in the acceptable sense of the word and adds nothing to the entry. LottieP 06:57, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Csokas's name is mentioned as Hungarian. It presumably comes from the word "csókás".
For those who are interested, the stem of the word is the noun "csóka" (pronounced as [cho:kuh]), which means Jackdaw.
The suffix "-s" (pronounced as [-sh]) is for creating an adjective of possession, and an "á" (pronounced as a long wide "aa") is inserted before it, to avoid consonant collision. Thus comes the whole word as "csókás", meaning loosely "(one who) has jackdaws" (or otherwise is related to jackdaws).
Compare with other common Hungarian family names with same structure like:
"Hollós" ("holló" means Common Raven)
"Varjas" ("varjú" means Crow)
"Madaras" ("madár" means "bird") —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.56.80.123 (talk • contribs) 20:19, 28 Mar 2006.
Csokas's time on Shortland Street is wrong...he was on that show from 1993 - 1994, not 1994 - 1996. Dippit 01:53, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
