The following remark is not really relevant or necessary, and doesn't seem to clarify much:

The buddha's teaching has always been against the stream

And all of this bellow is something you would normally expect to find as a sales pitch in the back cover of a book, quotation of endorsement included. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and this is Not very encyclopaedic at all!:
