[edit] Khomeini

I was under the impression (incidentally taught by Rudi Matthee who should know something about Iran) that Khomeini was never a marja' at-taqlid, and that the last one (in Iran) had died in 1964 or around there... he was a Grand Ayatollah... and Khameini and Ayatollah... but not marja' at-taqlid.
