[edit] Removal of Speedy Deletion Tag

Gimme a chance to even type it out.

I have removed the speedy deletion tag. I appreciate the sentiment that serving as mayor does not automatically entitle someone to his or her own article. However, given the importance of the office to a community, I do not think that being a small-town mayor automatically justifies speedy deletion, either. A decision like this ought to at least go to AfD. In addition, for this particular person, she is local political figures who received press coverage given the recent events surrounding the native blockades in Caledonia, Ontario. Just because it may have been negative press doesn't change anything. Agent 86 04:20, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Will you nominate for AfD or shall I? This really should be merged in with the city/province. If it's important to them, it should go in their article. Rklawton 04:42, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
I'll leave it up to you. My initial reaction to this and Lorraine Bergstram was that they certainly were borderline for at least a {{prod}}, but given the recent creation and the claim (however tenuous) to some notability made me decide to simply copyedit (and remove some questionable content) and await the inevitable AfD. I may very well remain neutral on both nominations, but I'll ponder it during the process. Any comment I may have about the Marie Trainer article would be that this person has achieved some notariety as having garnered some national coverage in Canada regarding her remarks about the "Caledonia" issue, resulting in her censure by the council.
I went to the talk page of the original creator of this article and the Lorraine Bergstram article to caution him about the removal of the SD tag and to let him know that he may wish to develop these articles if he wishes for them to remain. I see you were ahead of me on the first part. Hopefully he'll take the initiative on the second part; otherwise, I will not be surprised (or all that upset) if the AfD succeeds. Corrected the spelling of the former mayor Marie Trainer defeated as Lorraine Bergstrand. Roby0215 16:27, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
