Maryland Route 6 is a state highway in Southern Maryland. Unlike many other state highways in the area, it remains a two-lane roadway, and has not had many major realignments. When the 9-1-1 system was adopted many of the roads that make up the route were renamed.

[edit] Route description
Maryland Route 6 begins its nominally west-to-east progression in Charles County at the Potomac River near the unincorporated town of Riverside. It starts as Port Tobacco Road until it reaches US 301 in La Plata where it becomes Charles Street. When it crosses into Saint Mary's County, it becomes New Market Road, then New Market Turner Road after crossing MD 5. The road ends at MD 235 near Turner, Maryland.
