[edit] Route description
For almost its entire length, Maryland 545 follows Blue Ball Road, which itself extends from the Pennsylvania state line. The highway continues southeast into Elkton, and when it reaches the Amtrak tracks, it follows Elkton Boulevard to end at Maryland Route 213.
According to the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) district maintenance list, state maintenance begins about 3 miles south of Blue Ball at the intersection with Warburton Road. The SHA Highway Locator Reference suggests that Maryland 545 extends as far north as Maryland 273 on Blue Ball Road.
In Elkton, across the Amtrak tracks is a small piece of Blue Ball Road that was apparently cut off by the tracks.
