Mary Starrett
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mary Starrett (born 1954, Brooklyn, New York) is a commentator and talk show host as well as a member of the Constitution Party in the state of Oregon. She graduated from Emerson College, earning a bachelor's degree in speech communications.
For many years, Starrett worked for many different television stations throughout the country. After arriving in Portland Starrett started as a reporter for ABC affiliate KATU and later co-hosted AM Northwest Television show for many years.
Her political philosophy is conservative; she ran for office in 2006 on the Constitution Party of Oregon ticket. She is a staunch supporter of free-market economics, individual property rights, and the Second Amendment, and strongly opposes abortion. She has also questioned whether global warming exists. Starrett differs from many contemporary conservatives in opposing the war in Iraq and advocating immediate troop withdrawal.
A complaint was filed with the Elections Division by three voters on August 21, 2006, alleging that Starrett was not nominated properly due to the fact that the Constitution Party failed to provide notice when it met to nominate her. [1] The complaint was dismissed. [2]
