Martin McAleese

Martin McAleese is the husband of the President of the Republic of Ireland, Dr. Mary McAleese. He is a dentist and an accountant.

The two met when they represented their respective schools, St. Dominic's (Ardoyne) and St Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School (West Belfast), in a debating contest. They married in 1976 and have three children:

  • Emma - born 1982
  • Justin and SaraMai (twins) - born 1985.
