Martin Long is an educator, education activist and union leader in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He had been a long time educator in Toronto's east-end before leaving in 1998 to serve as the first grievance officer and chief negotiator of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto (ETT) in its maiden year. He became President of the 11,000+ member ETT in 2002.

Long has been a leading figure in the "Fair Funding Campaign" for public education in Ontario, opposing cuts to education under the Conservative governments of Mike Harris and Ernie Eves. He has also used his platform to fight for a provincial inquiry into the shooting death of native protester Dudley George, which was finally launched in November 2003.

Prior to the 2004 federal election, Long ran for the New Democratic Party nomination in the Toronto riding of Beaches—East York, where he resides in The Beaches neighbourhood. In a close three person race, he placed second to former Greenpeace head Peter Tabuns and ahead of former Ontario New Democratic Party Queen's Park staffer Laurie Orrett.
