Martin Owen Gallagher is a New Zealand politician. He was educated at Hamilton Boys' High School and Waikato University. A member of the wealthy Hamilton industrialist Gallagher family, he is considered to belong to the conservative faction of the Labour Party. He was first elected to Parliament in the 1993 elections, when he won the seat of Hamilton West. In the 1996 elections, however, he was defeated by National's Bob Simcock. In the 1999 elections, he won back his seat, and has retained it since. Before standing for Parliament, he had been Deputy Mayor of Hamilton. He is a Justice of the Peace.
