Marshall railway station is located in Grovedale, a suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The station opened on April 26, 2005.
[edit] Rail controversy
The Regional Fast Rail project announced an upgrade of the line between Melbourne and Geelong to Grovedale, which has long required rail transportation to service its growing population.
It was eventually decided to construct the new terminus on the site of the demolished Marshall station. This decision was controversial, as a significant portion of the local community had demanded that the station be built in Grovedale itself whilst others are pushing for the extension to continue to Waurn Ponds to service nearby Deakin University.
