Marshall Glenn

Marshall Glenn was the head football coach for West Virginia University from 1937 to 1939. He is notable for playing and coaching football and basketball at West Virginia. He was considered the best basketball player in school history before World War 2.^{[citation needed]} As a basketball coach his career record stood at 61-46. His record as a football coach stood at 14-12-3.

The late Marshall "Little Sleepy" Glenn distinguished himself as a basketball and football captain, and also later as a coach of both sports at West Virginia.

Considered WVU's best all-around basketball player prior to World War II, Glenn established the season and career scoring records for that era.

As a linebacker and blocking back, he was also a three-year football starter from 1927-29. Posting a 53-29-6 mark as a player in both sports, Glenn went on to become West Virginia's seventh basketball coach in 1934.

Posting a 61-46 record over five seasons in basketball, he also took over the duties as head football coach in 1937. In his initial season as football coach, Glen led WVU to a 7-1-1 record and its second bowl appearance in the 1938 Sun Bowl.

Taking on slightly favored Texas Tech, Glenn relied on an impressive defensive performance as the Mountaineers won the game 7-6.

Glenn, who posted a 14-12-3 record as a football coach, also attended Rush College between football and basketball seasons, earning a medical degree.

Glenn practiced medicine in Charles Town until his death in 1980. He is a member of WVU's all-time teams for basketball and football.
