[edit] History
The construction of Marsh Creek Lake at Marsh Creek State Park solved several problems. There was a shortage of drinking water. The reservoir now provides drinking water for the Chester County Water Resources Authority. Seasonal flooding in the area was a problem. The dam on Marsh Creek limits the possible damage caused by flooding. Lastly, there was a shortage of outdoor recreational opportuniites for the people of western Chester County. Upon completion of the reservoir the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania bought the land surrounding Marsh Creek Lake and built recreational facilities and opened the land to the public.
