Mars People are characters in the Metal Slug series.

[edit] Description

The Mars People are aliens from space that are in a plot to take over Earth in the Metal Slug universe. They are similar to squids, using their tentacles as a form of movement, and a strange fighting style which involves gas and a laser pistol. In Metal Slug 2, they appeared as enemies near the climax of the game, but were defeated by the alliance consisting of the Penegrine Falcon Strike Force and General Morden's army. They tried again in Metal Slug 3, abducting Morden and one of the members of the Penegrine Falcons, only for the Penegrine Falcons and Morden's army to take the fight to their mothership and defeat them. In Metal Slug 6, the Mars People, Morden, as well as his rebel army, and the Ikari Warriors, join forces with the Penegrine Falcons to fight a new alien invader who, ironically, feed on the Mars People. In the game, after Stage 2, the Mars People become the players' allies; some are even hostages.

[edit] Trivia

  • Their moves in the game reference many Science Fiction Movies and UFO Phenomenon (EX: "Not Independence" , "Tunguska Incident", etc.)
  • Their DM, MP12, stands for Mars People 12 or 12 Mars People. This is perhaps a reference to Majestic 12, often abbreviated as MJ12.
  • Their ending in SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom depicts the Mars People calculating a plan in an attempt to take over the world again.
  • Mars People is also a character in NeoGeo Battle Coliseum; his story is continues from SVC Chaos where the Slug team defeated them once more; as a result, one got stranded on Earth living in Osaka and living as a waiter. WAREZ gave him an invitation to the tournament, his prize is his return home to Mars. Mars' custom partner in the game is, of course, Marco.
  • Many references to Mars People are parodied in the anime, Puni Puni Poemy.
