Marlow F.C.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marlow F.C. are a football club based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England. They were established in 1870 and have the honour of competing in the first ever FA Cup, which began in 1871. In 1882, they reached the semi-final of the FA Cup. In more recent times, Marlow reached the first round of the FA Cup four times, all in the successive seasons of 1991-95, including Third Round losses to Tottenham Hotspur in 92/93 and Swindon Town in 94/95, a run in which they claimed the scalp of Oxford United.
In 1965-66, they joined the second division of the Athenian League. Winning promotion to the top division in 1970-71, they remained in that league until 1983-84, when the Athenian League was disbanded. Like many fellow league-less Athenian clubs, they joined the Isthmian League and were placed in Division 2 North. After four seasons Marlow achieved two promotions to the Premier League where they stayed until 1994-95 when they were relegated. In 2004 re-organization, they joined the Southern League Division One West and now play in the re-organised Southern League Division One South and West, beginning in 2006-07.
