Marlena Shaw is a singer. Born as Marlina Burgess in 1942, New Rochelle, New York, Shaw was discovered by Chess Records in 1966. She released her debut and sophomore album on their subsidiary Cadet Records. She moved to Bluenote in 1972, and was their first female artist. Shaw still performs and records today.
