Markus Schroth (born January 25, 1975) is a German football striker.

He was born in Karlsruhe and started to play football at the club TSV Reichenbach from the nearby Waldbronn, whence he moved to Karlsruher SC at the age of 15, in 1990. He started his professional career at KSC in the summer of 1994 and made his Bundesliga debut as a second-half substitute in the club's away match against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 7, 1994. However, it was his only Bundesliga appearance in the 1994-95 season of the league and he was not a regular in the following season either, making only four Bundesliga appearances in which he nevertheless managed to score his first goal in the league, netting the final goal in KSC's 3-0 away victory over SC Freiburg on April 13, 1996. He eventually became a regular in the KSC team in his third professional season with the club and appeared in a total of 62 Bundesliga matches in the following two seasons, scoring a total of ten goals. He also played with KSC in seven UEFA Cup matches in two seasons of the competition in 1996 and 1997, scoring once.

Between 1996 and 1998, Schroth was also a member of the German national under-21 team, winning a total of 20 international caps and scoring five goals for the team. He also won six international caps and scored one goal for the German A2 national team between 1998 and 2000. In 2003, he won another two international caps and scored one goal for the Team 2006, a German national team made of prospective players for the 2006 World Cup.

Schroth left KSC for TSV 1860 München in the summer of 1998, following KSC's relegation to the Second Bundesliga at the end of the 1997-98 Bundesliga season. He became a regular in the 1860 team already in his first season with the club and appeared in 33 out of possible 34 Bundesliga matches that season, also scoring six goals. He continued to play for the club until the end of the 2003-04 Bundesliga season in which they got relegated to the Second Bundesliga with a 17th-place finish in the first division. In six seasons of playing for TSV 1860 München, Schroth made a total of 150 Bundesliga appearances and scored a total of 34 goals for the club in the league. In the 2002-03 season, he was the club's most successful goalscorer in the Bundesliga, scoring 14 goals in 32 matches.

In the summer of 2004, Schroth signed a three-year contract with 1. FC Nürnberg. In his first two seasons with the club, he made a total of 52 Bundesliga appearances in which he managed to score a total of eleven goals. He made a good start in the 2006-07 season of the league with the club as he scored two goals in the opening two matches.
