[edit] Background

"Currently working for a security company in Raccoon City, Mark is a Vietnam veteran. Approximately 51 years old, his robust strength has not diminished. He has tasted the emptiness of war and now, more than anything, he just wants to live in peace."

Mark is implied to have worked at the Apple Inn in midtown Raccoon City. He has an unnamed wife and son who either escaped from Raccoon City intact or never lived there in the first place. He is troubled by an inability to connect with his son and a growing disillusionment with the patriotic ideals of his youth. It's also hinted that he struggles with drinking, although he does not seem to be a full-blown alcoholic.

[edit] Items

Custom Handgun: Mark's personal automatic is similar to the other handguns found commonly throughout the game. Although Mark's Custom Handgun inflicts slightly less damage per attack, the barrel has been modified to inflict more damage at longer range.

Handgun Magazine: An extra clip for Mark's Handgun, this clip enables faster reloading. The Handgun Magazine can be refilled by combining it with Handgun Rounds.

[edit] Special Actions

Guard: Mark can guard against most enemy attacks. Mark can fend off common attacks from most frequently enqountered foes. However, his viral meter still increases due to the contact. Strong attacks from unquie boss enemies may still cause damage to Mark even while he is guarding.

Full Swing: Equip a cylindrical melee weapon, such as an Iron Pipe, a Long Pole, or a Crutch. Mark will raise the melee weapon to the usaul position, and then after a moment he will raise it higher. This indicates that Mark is ready to perform a "full swing", causing more damage than the normal attack.

[edit] Character Analysis

Mark’s first advantage is to start with his Custom Handgun. Even though it is not a powerful gun such as Kevin’s handgun, it is easier to find ammo for it. Mark also comes with a Handgun Magazine which will, if preserved, allow Mark to always be ready to fight from long range. Keeping his weapon will allow the player to save an Item Space.

His greatest disadvantages are his low speed, which makes him an easy target for fast enemies like Hunters, and his infection rate, which is the fastest. For this, it is very important to learn to use his Guard Ability properly. Fortunately, he has the better vitality of all.

Mark is also good with melee weapons, not only because of his superior strength, but thanks to his Full Swing move, which can knock down one or more zombies with the proper weapon.

A good partner for Mark would be George, so he can support him with medicine to stop the infection rate.

[edit] Costumes

  • Mark:A (Default)

Mark's work uniform - Mark's navy-blue security uniform.

  • Mark:B Casual Wear (Outbreak)

A grey polo shirt tucked into khaki shorts, along with a brown leather belt and white sneakers.

  • Mark:C Sir, Yes Sir! (Outbreak: File #2)

An army dress uniform.

[edit] Fate

There are several endings of the game. Since most Resident Evil games count the good endings, it is safe to assume that it is the same case here and that Mark survived.

Decisions, Desicions

Escaping With Daylight: The best ending in File #1, Mark is cured of the T-Virus, escaping Raccoon City with Daylight shortly before the government's bombing run.

Escaping Without Daylight: Though he is cured of the T-Virus, Mark is unable to recover a sample of the vaccine before the city is destroyed.

Escaping Uncured: Mark boards the Helicopter without using the vaccine, though he has a sample of it. Shortly before the city is annihilated, he succumbs to the effects of the virus, and the helicopter crashes in the mountains.

No Escape: The serum was never found, and David and Mark remain in the city. Determined to go down fighting, they manage to repair a tank, and charge a hoard of zombies as the missiles destroy the city.

End of the Road

Run Like The Linda/Up and Away With Linda: Mark watches the explosion in Raccoon City from a distance. After the credits, Mark reclines in his yard in a lawn chair, speaking to a friend on a cell phone. In the distance, his wife and teenage son set a table for their barbecue. After hanging up his phone, he waves to them, then looks up at the sky and folds his hands behind his head.

[edit] Trivia

  • While in the elephant stage during the "Wild Things" Scenario, Mark says that his son loved the elephant show.
  • In the "Underbelly" Scenario, Mark states that he rides the trains often enough, that he is not good with machines and that he is not crazy about dark areas.
  • Mark has a wife and one son and he cares for them a great deal. He can mention them during several scenarios like "Underbelly" and "Desperate Times" by saying things such as "Did my family make it out of town?" and "I hope they're safe."
  • Mark and Kevin do not have a good relationship. But conversely, Mark gets along well with David.
