Mark Watson (comedian)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mark Watson is an English stand-up comedian and novelist. Despite being born in Bristol, his offbeat stand-up routine often involves him assuming the mantle of a laid-back Welshman for its delivery.

He has made a number of television and radio appearances, including The Insiders Guide To Sitcoms, the BBC Three pilot Street Sharks and in 2006 he appeared as a 'commentator from the future' on the BBC2 comedy show Time Trumpet. He has also appeared twice in the third (Autumn 2006) series of BBC2's Mock The Week. He is currently developing a pilot called Overtime for BBC Radio 4.

He has also appeared regularly at the Edinburgh Fringe, winning the "Spirit of the Fringe" award and was nominated as Best Newcomer at the 2005 Perrier Comedy Awards.

  • I'm Worried That I'm Starting To Hate Almost Everyone In The World
  • Mark Watson, And His Audience, Write A Novel

On each day of the festival he hosted literary workshop-cum-interactive comedy show. The aim was to write, by the end of August, a novelĀ begun from scratch and woven entirely from audience suggestions, with another 2,000 words or so added every day. The novel was not finished within the month but the results so far were considered too promising to abandon so the project is set to continue albeit in by an, as yet, undecided method now that the festival has finished. The book so far is posted on the website MySpace.
