Mark Volman

Mark Volman (born April 19, 1947 in Los Angeles, California) is an American rock and roll musician, best known as a founding member of the 1960s band The Turtles. At times during his career he has used the pseudonym "The Phlorescent Leech" ("Flo" for short).
Volman grew up in Westchester, a suburb of Los Angeles, California, where he graduated from Westchester High School.
Volman and Howard Kaylan founded The Turtles, a popular band of the late 1960s. After that band folded, they discovered that the terms of their contract forbade them to use not only the name The Turtles, but also their own names. They joined The Mothers of Invention; and they also worked together as Flo & Eddie, in music, in film (they provided music and voices for animated films like Dirty Duck), and in radio broadcasting. As of 2005, they still appear occasionally as "The Turtles ... Featuring Flo & Eddie".
Mark Volman currently teaches History of Recorded Music and Survey of Music Business classes at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. He and his wife and business partner, Emily Ector-Volman, are active members of Harpeth Presbyterian Church in Nashville, where they sing in the choir.[1]
