Mark Stuart (April 27, 1984 in Rochester, Minnesota) is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays defense for the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was the chosen 21st overall in the first round.

according to hockeyfutures.com

"Stuart is a big, mean, strong, stay at home defenseman. He has displayed good mobility for a man of his size and should be able to keep up with NHL forwards when he makes that jump. He is a naturally born leader and doesn’t take it for granted, admitting he frequently reads leadership skills books to help fill his role.

He is a workhorse of a defenseman who gives 110 percent every shift he steps on the ice. Stuart is the type of defenseman who will abuse opposing forwards all night long and intimidate them so they’re unwilling to stand in front of the net or go into the corner for a loose puck.

One of Stuart’s downsides to some scouts is that sometimes he crosses the line from being tough to being unnecessarily rough, resulting in some concerns about his discipline.

There are some questions about Stuart’s abilities with the puck as well. In his freshman year he was forced to play the defensive counterpart to Tom Preissing, and again in his sophomore year he anchored the defense. Having yet been relied on to contribute much offensively it's uncertain what he will be able to do when he reaches the pro ranks."

On November 7, 2006, after undergoing off-season knee surgery, Stuart was sent down to the Boston Bruins AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, only until he was recalled by Boston on November 20, 2006.
