Mark Steenhuis (b. December 3, 1980 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League. His last name is pronounced "STEIN-house"[1].
Steenhuis made his NLL debut in 2002 with the Columbus Landsharks before being traded to the Bandits for goalie Ken Montour. Once in Buffalo, Steenhuis quickly became a fan favourite, thanks not only to his energetic style of play, goal-scoring ability, and blazing speed, but also for his afro hair and bright orange shoes.
Unlike most NLL players, Steenhuis did not grow up playing lacrosse. In fact, he never played the game until the age of 18.
Steenhuis was named MVP of the 2004 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game in Denver, Colorado.
