Mark Gottfried

Mark Gottfried (born January 20, 1964) is a men's college basketball coach. The Crestline, Ohio native is the current head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
His father, Joe Gottfried, was also a basketball coach and currently serves as Director of Athletics at the University of South Alabama. Mark played 3 seasons of basketball at Alabama, and the Crimson Tide advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in each of those seasons.
He was hired by Alabama in 1998 after three seasons coaching at Murray State. Alabama's finest year during his tenure has been the 2002 season when the squad advanced to the Elite Eight. For his efforts he was named SEC coach of the year by the AP and his fellow coaches.
He has led the Tide to 5 consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament, as of the 2005-2006 season.
Gottfried and his wife, Elizabeth, are married with five children.
