Mark Cosgrove was born on the 14th of June 1984, in the city of Adelaide. He is a left handed batsman and a part time bowler for South Australia Redbacks cricket team. In 2005 Mark won the Bradman Young Player. He was dropped in early 2005 because of claims that he was overweight, but is back in the South Australian Redbacks squad.

Now, after dropping a fair proportion of his bulk, Cosgrove is literally "pulling his weight" around the Australian first class scene. He received international recognition for the first time against Bangladesh in early 2006 and responded with an aggressive half century which showcased his talents to the world. Widely tipped as the next big thing in Australian cricket, Mark Cosgrove is regarded as a dark horse for selection in the 2007 West Indies World Cup. Considering the fact that Michael Clarke has recently not been living up to his full potential, 'Baby boof' as he is fondly known by teammates (due to his resemblance to former Australian Test cricketer Darren Lehmann), Cosgrove may just sneak a place in the Aussie middle order for the World Cup.

For 2006 he has been signed by Glamorgan and has made an immediate impact opening the batting and also with his bowling.
