Marion Township is one of the 14 townships that make up Mercer County, Ohio.

Marion Local Schools and the historic Roman Catholic convent of the Sisters of the Precious Blood and Shrine of the Holy Relics are both located in the township's rural community of Maria Stein(for St. Mary of The Rock.)


Chickasaw is a small community located just north of Maria Stein.

St. Rose is a small village a mile west of Maria Stein. It is known to have more cows than people.

The Marion Local Flyers football team soundly defeated Shadyside December 1,2006 in the state high school finals in Canton,Ohio by the score of 17-0 making it the Flyers football team's third Division #6 state football title since the year 2000 Its marching band is equally legendary along with its boys and girls basketball teams.
