Whilst Mario and Princess Peach visit a funfair, Bowser appears to ruin it. With his lackeys, he steals Peach, and Mario must save her. He does this by using a machine that makes him spherical, allowing for the pinball action of the game.

[edit] Gameplay

In typical Mario fashion, Mario must explore different areas to reach his aim of saving the princess. There are 5 different worlds, consisting of an ice world, a desert world, the funfare area, a hilly area and, of course, Bowser's castle. To proceed, Mario must collect enough stars to open specific doors (Like Super Mario 64). There are over 35 stars to collect, but more is needed to advance. With a boss in each world, Mario has his work cut out for him.

[edit] Enemies

There are several different enemies in this game that all have different ways of being destroyed.

All of these monsters can be destroyed by flinging mario into them at least one time.

[edit] Items

There are many items in the game Mario Pinball land all with different types of functions.

  • The poison mushroom
  • The super mushroom
  • Starman
  • lightning bolt
  • Gold coin
  • Blue Coin
  • Yoshi Egg
  • Tunnel

[edit] Reception

The game was generally very poorly received. Reviewers criticized the game as pointlessly difficult, saying "winning in the game is more a question of luck than skill" but praising the excellent graphics. However, GameSpot gave the game 7.5 out of 10[1], saying it "combines Mario with pinball to create an interesting kind of adventure game".

[edit] Criticsm

Some people didn't enjoy this game due to various reasons. It didn't stick to Mario's original format of gameplay. Other criticsm was recieved due to the uneven physics of the gameplay and if you are not too good you can spend a long period of time trying to collect one item. Finally a minor group of fans thought that this game was confusing due to how somethings look as if you can go through while you really can't.
