[edit] Biography
Mario Luis Santoro was a medical technician on his free day when the 9/11 terrorist attacks were executed. He decided immediately to go to the scene and was one of the first to reach Ground Zero[1]. His body was found on December 27, 2001.
His father remembers him with grief:
“They were born at then same year, my son and the towers, in 1973. Pitifully, the same year at the same time, both of them died. [2]”
Mario distinguished himself as a generous and liable person. In the 80's he arrived with his parents and three brothers to New York, as Argentine immigrants. They settled down at Brooklyn. He studied and become a medical technician in the United States, and was a member of the Lions Club.
Neighbors from Brooklyn have claimed to the New York City authorities to recognize him as a hero and call a street with his name. Up to now the city doesn’t accept the claim and ask for more data about his life in the American community.
Mario married Leonor Ramos with whom he had a daughter, Sofia, who was one year old at the moment of his assassination.
Following his last will, his body was incinerated and his ashes were put among the flowers in a park where children are playing [3].
