Marina Joesoef

Marina Joesoef, born March 24, 1959, is an Indonesian artist. She is an accomplished painter having recent exhibitions in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur[1], Malaysia.
Born in Jakarta, at an early age she joined the family to go to Los Angeles and Leiden, the Netherlands, where her father, Dr. Sumarsono Sastrowardoyo, studied urology for six years. She attended high school in Santa Monica and Leiden and is fluent in English and Dutch.
After returning home to Indonesia, in 1976 she participated in a Miss Teen pageant organized by Gadis magazine and won the first prize.

Ms. Joesoef is the eldest daughter (and the second of four children) of Dr. Sumarsono Sastrowardoyo, a physician, surgeon and memoirist, and the late Ina Sastrowardoyo. An older brother, Iwan Sastrowardoyo, died in 1995. She also has another brother, Dr. Aswin W. Sastrowardoyo, and a younger sister, Damayanti Sastrowardoyo.
The actress Dian Sastrowardoyo is a niece of Ms. Joesoef.
She is married to Mr. Iwan V. Joesoef[2], a businessman, and has two sons and a daughter.
Her paternal grandfather, Sutejo Sastrowardoyo, traced the family's ancestry back 18 generations to 15th century Java.
