Marilith is an online comic written by Canadian artist Sean Lindsay using the pen name "Krazy Krow". It began on December 15, 2004 with manga/anime artist Jos Fouts providing illustrations. Sometime during mid-August of 2005, Jos came down with a fever and updates were halted. After a few weeks it was announced that he could no longer act as the artist of Marilith and all updates to Marilith have ceased. On February 6, 2006, Sean Lindsay claimed through his news system that artist John Staton is about to take up the post of Marilith's illustrator. Krazy Krow's first online comic was a gag strip called Krakow 1.0 [1], which he both wrote and illustrated. Wanting to create something more serious, he created a comic about the exploits of assassin Marilith Millions, and named it Krakow 2.0. Marilith the comic is the title character's life story after the end of Krakow 2.0.

Contents

[edit] Main characters

  • Marilith Millions – professional and highly skilled assassin, her previous attempt at retirement (the kidnapping of Kimiko Nakamura, heiress to the Hello Kitty empire, for ransom) failed, and she is currently trying to escape to Argentina with Kimiko, who is now Marilith's partner and friend. Their escape is hindered by many factors, including rival assassin Valentino, bounty-hunter leader Marshall Hunter, and vengeful detective Christi O'Reilly. Although an individualist who doesn't hesitate to kill, she's not heartless (she used to sponsor a poor third-world child for every person she killed before it got too expensive).
  • Kimiko Nakamura – former Japanese schoolgirl and current assassin-in-training, Kimiko was kidnapped by Marilith and developed a case of Stockholm syndrome (or maybe just thought Marilith was a cool person), and is now Marilith's apprentice assassin and friend. She has much enthusiasm for her new life, but is somewhat naive and idealistic when it comes to the killing business.
  • Minh Johnson – computer security specialist, especially on the illegal bits. He has known Marilith since university days and continued to help her in the tech department, party from friendship and partly from his secret love for her. Minh lost contact with Marilith after he gave her a fake citizenship for Argentina.
  • Valentino – another professional and highly skilled assassin, little is known about Valentino's past or her connection to Marilith. Originally she and Marilith were "partners" working for the mysterious J.C. but after Marilith passed up her offer of partnership, Valentino seems to be dedicated to getting revenge on her by killing Marilith by several different methods. At one point, Valentino cuts off Marilith's pinky-toe.
  • Christi O'Reilly – detective and usually mild-tempered red head, until you bring up Marilith. In Krakow 2.0, Detective O'Reilly was partnered up with Marshall Hunter in order to catch Kimiko's kidnappers, much to the former's frustration. Christi's first partner was killed by Marilith and now she is dedicated to catching her. She is also determined to "rescue" Kimiko, although unaware that her kidnapper is also Marilith.
  • Mark Wong – detective and partner of Christi O'Reilly. He was partnered with Christi with the intention of her keeping his attitude in check, but it seems at times he is keeping tabs on her instead. He often makes sarcastic jokes and has an old fashioned detective spirit.
  • Marshall Hunter – Charismatic bounty hunter and leader of the bounty hunting group the "Hunter Knights". He has obvious southern roots, from his accent and white suit. He claims to be a serious bounty hunter, although he seems more in the business for media attention than to actually catch criminals. He changed his decision to disband the "Hunter Knights" after being bombarded in his hospital room by the press, asking questions if he was to continue his search for Marilith.

[edit] Minor characters

  • Dim and Vicks – Marilith's partners in crime, they were hired by her to help kidnap Kimiko. In terms of being professional, they are pretty much her opposite and they provided comic relief in Krakow 2.0. Were referred to as Colonel Crispy and Colonel Crunchy during their bank heist. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
  • J.C. – A mysterious crime lord and formerly one of Marilith's most frequent employers. He paired her up with Valentino to track down Kimiko's kidnapper, leading to the rivarly between the two assassins.
  • The Doctor – Marilith's personal physician, although not necessarily a personal friend. He was responsible for giving Kimiko a new left arm (her old one was lost in Krakow 2.0), much to his displeasure when his operating facility was the target of an attempted raid by the Hunter Knights in their pursuit of Marilith. The Doctor willingly keeps certain procedures off the books, for a reasonable price.
  • Nurse Wendy – The Doctor's bubbly and large-breasted assistant, she is, surprisingly, a surgeon with knowledge either at or beyond that of The Doctor himself. She has expressed a certain respect, admiration, and affection for The Doctor, possibly because he is the reason her chest is so large. Both her and The Doctor's whereabouts are currently unknown.
  • Cali – Personal friend of Marilith's and an illegal arms dealer. He makes his first appearance in "Marilith" rather than in "Krakow 2.0". After Marilith's and Kimiko's escape from the Hunter Knights, apparently they took refuge at Cali's house before attempting to escape.

[edit] "Inspirations"

  • "Krazy Krow" has mentioned that he has stolen writing from several different sources in order to write "Marilith". Some of which include:
    • Leon/The Professional
    • The Big Hit
    • La Femme Nikita
    • The Jackal
    • Reservoir Dogs
    • A Better Tomorrow
    • Le Samourai
    • The Avengers
    • Gunsmith Cats
    • Cowboy Bebop
    • Tokyo Drifter
    • Pulp Fiction
    • Hard Boiled
  • The protagonist is named after a kind of fantasy monster known as a marilith. In "Krazy Krow's" other webcomic, Krakow 1.0, one of Kia's sisters has a similar form to a marilith.
