Marie Laurencin

Marie Laurencin (October 31, 1883 — June 8, 1956) was a Parisian painter and engraver.
She was born in Paris, and lived there for her entire life except during the first World War. In 1914, she first went to Spain with her German born husband, Baron Otto von Waëtjen, and then briefly lived with him in Düsseldorf. After they divorced in 1920, she returned to Paris.
Her work, influenced by Picasso, often showed theater scenes. However, her early work mainly depicted young girls. She preferred to work with pastels. Through her friend Guillaume Apollinaire, she knew the main Cubists.
